We’re Redesigning How the Human Body Sits.
Sitting was never meant to be passive.
Sitting was never meant to be passive.
Yet modern life forces the body into static, fixed positions that increase spinal load, weaken deep stabilisers, compress the pelvis, and fatigue the nervous system.
Most chairs constrain natural spinal and pelvic mechanics, and we’ve accepted the pain, tension, and fatigue that follow.
Aligna was founded by Dr. Malak Kawan, a neuroscientist and bioengineer trained in neural implant design and tissue–device interactions.
Her work focused on how biological systems respond to long-term mechanical and inflammatory stress — insights that later shaped her understanding of chronic tension and daily movement patterns.
After completing her PhD, she applied this scientific lens to the way we sit, leading to the creation of a new approach: dynamic, movement-based sitting.
Static sitting disrupts:
The Moment Everything Became Clear
The breakthrough became undeniable:
-
We don’t need another ergonomic chair.
-
We need a new category: dynamic sitting. A way of sitting that supports the body’s natural architecture, restoring natural spinal and pelvic mechanics through continuous micro-movement.
2024 — The Insight
Identified prolonged immobility as the primary driver of sitting-related tension and musculoskeletal dysfunction.
Early 2024 — Research Foundation
Synthesis of neuroscience, fascia research, spinal mechanics, and movement principles.
Late 2024 — Prototyping Begins
Explored pelvic support angles, dynamic base concepts, and resistance pathways.
Early 2025 — Engineering & Industrial Design
Full Engineering development, mechanism refinement, and system integration.
2025 — Manufacturing & Validation

2026 — Launch Edition
Final refinements and preparation for the first production run.
Our Mission
To redefine sitting as a daily movement practice so your body stays active, aligned, and supported throughout the day.
Access to spinal and movement health should not depend on circumstance.

A portion of every purchase supports the Spinal Access Fund, providing movement-based tools to individuals with neurological, spinal, and musculoskeletal conditions who cannot obtain them.
